What is the Porsche Security Code?

A security code is required to operate certain functions that allow you to control your car remotely. You can create a four-digit PIN as your security code in My Porsche to ensure enhanced security. This PIN must be entered in the My Porsche app, for example, when you want to remotely unlock your car or activate special Car Security modes.

Additionally, for some models, you’ll need a security code to successfully log in with your Porsche ID in the car (more details).

I’ve forgotten my security code

If you’ve forgotten your security code, you can reset it. Depending on whether your car login is protected with a security code, different processes apply:

If you haven’t protected your car login with the security code:

To access this section, tap your name at the top of the PCM screen. Log in to your PCM again and, depending on your model and model year, grant remote access.

If you have protected your car login with the security code:

As Main User

There are four steps required to create a new security code.

Click Login & Security. In the ‘Security Code’ section, click the link Change your security code.Click the link Forgotten your security code?.Enter the new security code and confirm your new security code by entering it again.Click Confirm.Perform a factory reset in the PCM.Create a new security code in My Porsche – see section above ‘How to set the security code’.Once created, log in to the PCM of your car with the main user (car owner) and enter the new security code or, depending on your model and model year, grant remote access again.

As secondary user

If you are a secondary user, no factory reset is required. Please ask your main user (usually the car owner) to activate your user again in My Porsche.

What is the vehicle code used for?

The vehicle code, currently only available for some models*, is a PIN that serves as an alternative to the security code, protecting data stored in the car. This code cannot be reset. If you lose it and are the main user, you’ll need to reset the PCM to factory settings to regain access to the settings. Secondary users don’t require a reset, as the main user can delete and activate them at any time.

How to set the vehicle code in your Porsche Communication Management (PCM):

Tap Settings. Tap Security (If you have already set a security code, enter your security code).Select Vehicle Code.Enter the new code.Click OK.

Note that the security code is, by default, the primary authentication method. It’s required for certain remote services via the My Porsche app, such as the Unlock feature.
