About Charging

Yes, the charging time can differ significantly from the specified values as it is influenced by several factors. These include:

The available power rating of the charger and power supply The passenger compartment preconditioningThe state of charge and the temperature of the high-voltage batteryThe settings that were activated on the charger

When charging at home, the customer-specific domestic installation is also an important factor.

With AC charging, the power output of the on-board charger installed in the vehicle makes a real difference.

No, you don't have to charge the high-voltage battery of your Porsche completely every time. Partially charging your Porsche won’t cause capacity loss (’memory effect‘) and doesn’t reduce the service life of your high-voltage battery.

In addition, the charging speed reduces as the charge level of the high-voltage battery increases. Therefore, when using high power rapid chargers, it can save time to only charge the battery up to approximately 80% or until the required range has been achieved.

Please also note the general charging and care instructions in your Porsche Owner Manual.

If, during an active charging operation (i.e., when the vehicle plug is plugged in), the charger is disconnected from the infrastructure (e.g., during a power outage), then the charger is switched off.

In this instance no entry is made in the error memory, as without power supply nothing can be saved. If the vehicle is still plugged in when the power supply is restored, the charging operation will continue.

Normally, your vehicle will not discharge completely. Instead it will inform you ahead of time that the charge is low. Pay attention to the instructions in your car's PCM and instrument cluster. In addition, your Porsche can suggest a route to a nearby charging point if the vehicle charge is low.

If you use the Charging Planner to plan your route, you can also enter a desired charging status at your destination. If the calculated charging status is below this target value, the Charging Planner automatically plans charging stops to have the desired range at the destination.

This may be due to the car not having any internet connection or being in Privacy Mode. Make sure that your vehicle and mobile phone both have a stable internet connection.
