How do I operate the tailgate and bonnet on the Cayenne Electric?

For the first time, the Cayenne features a front luggage compartment (frunk), providing an additional 90 litres of storage capacity.

The Cayenne Electric therefore offers flexible storage options in both the rear and front luggage compartments: larger items can be stowed at the rear, while smaller items can be stored at the front.

Tailgate Operation

The tailgate can be opened and closed via:

Button on the vehicle key Button in the driver’s door (press and hold) Button on the tailgate trim The PCM / Central Display Via foot gesture

Tailgate Operation via Foot Gesture

The tailgate can be opened or closed with a foot gesture in the vehicle’s sensor area. Move your foot in a fluid kicking motion towards the bumper and back again without touching it. Alternatively, you can position your foot to the side under the bumper, whichever is more convenient for you.

Activation takes place in the PCM:

Settings > Other settings > Vehicle Locking System > ON/OFF Activate boot lid with foot gesture

To close the tailgate, move your foot slightly in the sensor area again. Then leave the area of the tailgate within 10 seconds, otherwise it will not close. After you have left the area, a signal tone sounds and the tailgate closes.

Note: To ensure reliable operation of the foot gesture control, the sensor area at the rear of the vehicle should be kept clean. In winter conditions, for example snow, road salt or similar, an underbody wash may help maintain proper functionality.

Adjusting the Opening Height of the Tailgate  

You can individually adjust the opening height of the tailgate: 

Open the tailgate Stop the opening process using one of the buttons Move the tailgate to the desired height by hand Press and hold the button on the tailgate trim for approx. 3 seconds. An audible signal and a single flash of the tail light confirm the setting. 

Bonnet Operation

Open the bonnet via:

Button on the vehicle key The PCM / central display Manual movement (Comfort Access function)

The bonnet must always be closed manually.

Bonnet Operation with Porsche Entry

With the Comfort Access function, you can open the front boot with a swiping gesture over the sensor below the Porsche crest. The bonnet must be closed manually.

Activation takes place in the PCM:

Settings > Other settings > Vehicle Locking System > ON/OFF Unlocking the vehicle without using the vehicle key

Cayenne Electric (WLTP): Electrical consumption combined (model range): 3.2 - 2.8 mi/kWh, Range combined (model range): 358 – 399 miles, CO2 emissions combined* (model range): 0 g/km
