How do I install online software updates in my Porsche Taycan?

Online software updates help keep your Porsche up to date with the latest software improvements. When an update is available for your Taycan, it is downloaded automatically in the background. Once the download is complete, you'll receive a notification in your Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system and in the My Porsche app that the update is available for installation. You can then start the installation directly in your car at a convenient time.

How do I know when an online software update is available and where can I find more information?

As soon as an online software update is available for your Porsche, you'll receive a notification both in your car's Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system and in the My Porsche app.

To learn more about the update, simply open the notification. It provides access to detailed information, including software improvements and any important information related to the installation process.

What are the prerequisites for online software updates in my Taycan?

The prerequisites for installing an online software update depend on the type of update available for your car. Depending on the update, you'll be informed about any requirements before the installation begins.

Infotainment updates (from model year 2026):

For infotainment updates from model year 2026, no additional preparation is required. Start the installation and leave the car.

Other vehicle updates and infotainment updates (before model year 2026):

For vehicle updates and infotainment updates before model year 2026, the following prerequisites apply:

Park your Porsche safely and on level ground. Make sure the selector lever is in position "P" and the electric parking brake is activated. Switch off your Porsche.Ensure that all doors and windows, as well as the front and rear lids, are fully closed and the car is locked. End the charging process and remove the charging connector.Close the sunroof, if equipped.Make sure that no people or animals are inside your car.Ensure that the high‑voltage battery of your Porsche is charged to at least 50 %.

How do I install online software updates in my Taycan?

Once a new update becomes available, you’ll automatically receive a notification in your car's PCM and can easily perform it yourself:

Turn off your Porsche. Before opening the door, the farewell screen will appear with a notification about the available online software update. Please read the information carefully. You can initiate the installation by pressing the Install now button.For some updates you need to close the windows and then lock the car.After leaving your Porsche the update will be installed automatically. The system will automatically notify you once the installation update is complete.
