How do I know when an online software update is available and where can I find more information?

As soon as an online software update is available for your Porsche, you'll receive a notification both in your car's Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system and in the My Porsche app.

The update notification provides direct access to detailed information about the software update, including:

The update title

The estimated installation time

A brief description of the software improvements

Release notes outlining the most important changes and features

How do I access online software update information and release notes in my car?

When an online software update is available, a pop-up notification will appear in your car’s PCM. Selecting the notification takes you directly to the online software update, where you can review the update details.

Alternatively, you can access the online software update via:

Home > Settings > Online software update

Scan the QR code displayed on the screen with your smartphone to view the release notes for the online software update.

How do I access online software update information and release notes in the My Porsche app?

When an online software update is available, you'll receive a push notification in the My Porsche app. Tapping the notification takes you directly to the online software update section, where you can review the update details.

Note: Make sure that push notifications are enabled for the My Porsche app in your smartphone settings to receive update notifications.

Alternatively, you can access this section manually via:

1. Open the My Porsche app on your phone.

2. If you have more than one car, tap on your car’s name and then select the correct one.

3. Tap Vehicle Details.

4. Scroll down and tap the Online software update section.

Tap Learn more to view the release notes for the available online software update.

What are the prerequisites for online software updates in my Cayenne Electric?

Park your Porsche safely and on level ground. Make sure the selector lever is in position "P" and the electric parking brake is activated.

Switch off your Porsche.

Ensure that all doors and windows, as well as the front and rear lids, are fully closed and the car is locked.

End the charging process and remove the charging connector.

Close the sunroof, if equipped.

Make sure that no people or animals are inside your car.

Ensure that the high‑voltage battery of your Porsche is charged to at least 50 %.

Remove any attached trailer before starting the update.

For some updates, additional prerequisites may apply. We'll inform you about these before installation or during the update process.

How do I install online software updates in my Cayenne Electric?

Once an online software update is available and all prerequisites are met, you can start the installation directly from your car:

Open the Notification Centre in the PCM and select the notification for the available online software update. This takes you directly to the update details for your Cayenne Electric. Review the information provided and select Install to start the installation process. Alternative: When you switch off your Porsche, a notification about the available online software update will also appear on the farewell screen when leaving your car. Tap the notification, review the information provided and select Install to start the installation process.

The prerequisites will be checked for a few minutes. If they are met, you'll be prompted to exit your Porsche, close the windows and then lock the car.

The update will be installed automatically. After a successful update, you can use your Porsche again. The system will automatically notify you once the installation update is complete.
