How do I use the Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR HUD) in the Cayenne Electric?

The Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR HUD) is an optional display upgrade for the Cayenne Electric. It projects relevant driving information, navigation instructions, and warning messages directly onto the windscreen and spatially into the traffic environment ahead of the vehicle.

Table of Contents

  1. Applicable models
  2. Functionality
  3. Activating and configuring the Augmented Reality Head-Up Display
  4. Operation via the Steering Wheel
  5. Adjusting Height and Brightness

Functionality

Augmented‑reality head‑up display showing speed, speed limit and navigation guidance projected onto the road ahead.

Unlike a conventional head-up display, the content is spatially integrated into the traffic environment. At a distance of 10 meters, key information appears with a screen diagonal of up to 87 inches directly in the driver’s field of view.

The AR HUD supports concentration on the road, reduces distraction, and increases comfort and safety while driving.

Examples of displayed functions:

Navigation: Turn-by-turn instructions, lane recommendations, directional arrows Driver assistance: Indicators for active assistance systems, marking relevant road users Warnings: Situational and safety warnings, e.g., when approaching obstacles or intersections

Care tip

To clean the projection surface, a soft, lint‑free cloth is sufficient. Do not use cleaning agents.

Activating and configuring the Augmented Reality Head-Up Display

Activation in the PCM:

Settings > Display > Head-Up Display

Configuration:

The AR HUD is divided into three zones — center, left, and right. Each zone can be assigned predefined content of your choice, such as:

Center: Driving data, active lane guidance Left: Consumption, current driving mode Right: Navigation arrows, media information

You can also choose whether temporary content (e.g., incoming calls or lane changes) should be displayed.

In the PCM, the AR HUD settings include a demo mode that lets you experience the functionality in real driving situations.
