Numerous apps have been optimised to prevent driver distraction. While driving, the driver can only open music, navigation and phone apps, and the App Center won’t be accessible on the centre display. However, many other apps can be conveniently accessed on the central screen during your drive using Voice Assistant. If your car has an integrated passenger display, all apps can still be used by the passenger while driving.
To access the App Center, please ensure the following requirements are met:
To install Porsche apps & third-party apps, please follow these steps in your PCM:
To fully enjoy your apps, please ensure that you have checked and granted the necessary app permissions: Settings > Apps > Permission manager.
The Permission manager gives you full control and information about your apps. By tapping on the components, you can withdraw permission.
To uninstall apps, please follow these steps in your PCM:
Alternatively, you can uninstall apps directly from the PCM by pressing longer on the app tile until a rubbish bin appears, then tap on it.
Please note, you can only uninstall third-party apps and not native apps that come pre-installed in your car.
For the best app performance and functionality, we highly recommend that you regularly update your apps. If an update is available, you will receive a notification in the notification centre. You can also check in the PCM what updates are available:
You can allow automatic updates in your PCM:
If the App Center isn’t visible in your PCM, you can use the integrated search function to find it. If the issue persists, restart your PCM or reset it to factory settings. For more information on resetting your PCM, please refer to this article Porsche PCM Factory Reset.
If your app download fails, please check the following prerequisites:
If you’re still experiencing issues, we recommend trying the following:
If you can’t use your downloaded app, please check the following:
If you’re still experiencing issues, we recommend:
Please note, the app center also offers third-party apps, which may have their own bugs and could potentially contribute to the issue.
The App Center offers a diverse selection of third-party apps, which are subject to change. In the event of any issues with third-party apps, please contact the app manufacturer directly. You can find their contact information in the app description within the App Center.
In this case downloading apps and opening the app center isn’t possible. However, for downloaded apps, you can still use them with limited functionality without mobile data. It's important to note that data that isn’t legally required won’t be processed when privacy mode is active. We recommend deactivating privacy mode / activating Connect services to fully utilise app features.
Porsche takes full responsibility for all Porsche apps available through the App Center. However, any content provided by third-party apps is owned by the respective third party, and Porsche is not responsible for any issues or concerns related to these apps. To ensure the safety and security of our users, the app store provider thoroughly checks the cyber security guidelines of third-party apps before making them available in the app store.
The App Center removes the pre-installed apps in your vehicle. This allows you to choose only the apps that are most important to you. All available apps can be found in the App Center. However, please note that Apple Music and Apple Podcasts are provided by Apple, including all product placement rights. They are currently not available in the App Center for download. You can still access these apps by using Apple CarPlay.
Currently, it isn’t possible to display an app on both the central and passenger screens. You will instead receive a pop-up notification asking if you want to use the app on the other display. However, it’s possible to use different apps on both screens simultaneously, providing greater flexibility and customisation options.
To exit full screen mode simply swipe from the left-hand side of the driver’s side screen edge towards the centre of the screen. This will automatically minimise the app and return you to the main screen.
If you’re experiencing issues with loading the App Center, it’s possible that your data allowance for the current month has been exhausted. To resolve this, you can purchase top-up data. Alternatively, you can try tethering or creating a hotspot with your mobile phone to reestablish the connection.
As a secondary user, you can download your own apps from the App Center provided the main user of the car has activated the Connect services and enabled the data pass. Apps installed by the main user are not accessible to secondary users.
Your PCM has a total storage space of 60GB. To check how much storage space is available, please refer to the local storage information in your PCM settings:
Please note, some apps offer downloadable offline content. This can lead to available memory being used up. It isn’t possible to extend this storage by adding external memory cards.
Currently, the PCM doesn’t support the use of gaming controllers.
Currently, the content filter can’t be set universally for all applications. However, some apps may have the option to enable the content filter. We recommend checking the settings of individual apps to see if this option is available.
