What is Hands-free Assistant and how does it work?
Porsche’s Hands-Free Assistant is an innovative driver assistance feature designed to enhance comfort and convenience on long highway journeys. As part of Porsche’s next generation of advanced driving systems, it supports the driver by taking over key driving tasks under defined conditions.

How does Hands-Free Assistant work?
Hands-Free Assistant allows you to experience hands-free operation of the Drive Assist driver assistance features on eligible and mapped road segments under certain operating conditions. When active at speeds up to 85 mph, the system is designed to assist with lane centering, speed adjustment, and lane change based on surrounding traffic and responds to certain changing conditions.
Hands-Free Assistant relies on the driver observation camera to ensure active driver attention; functionality will be restricted if the driver observation camera detects driver inattention. If the driver does not respond to system prompts, the system may provide seatbelt and braking interventions to alert the driver. Please note: Hands-Free Assistant is a driver assistance system. You must remain attentive and ready to take control immediately. This helps support safe system operation and complies with applicable legal requirements. The driver remains fully responsible for the vehicle at all times.
What is the difference between Drive Assist and Hands-Free Assistant?
Drive Assist enables lane centering support and helps maintain the permitted speed through automated braking and acceleration, including predictive speed control for upcoming curves, intersections and roundabouts, as well as assistance in following traffic controls such as stop signs and right of way situations, subject to system limitations. Drive Assist requires your hands to always be on the steering wheel.
Hands-Free Assistant lets you remove your hands from the steering wheel while Drive Assist is active, exclusively on eligible highways and interstates and only when all preconditions are met.
The free experience of Hands-Free Assistant is available as a no-cost digital service subscription via the Porsche Connect Store to interested customers. The Drive Assist is fully functional and available to customers without activating Hands-Free Assistant.
Where can I use Hands-Free Assistant?
Hands-Free Assistant is available exclusively on eligible highways and interstates. These are mapped road segments where the system operates under defined conditions. The system is designed for well-developed roads that meet the following criteria:
Availability is currently limited to certain roadways and may expand and evolve over time. The map below provides a high-level overview of roads where Hands-Free Assistant may be supported. The map is not intended to show exact availability at every location or on every road segment.
Regulations vary by state and could change over time, which may affect where the feature is available. Laws in some areas may restrict the use of Hands-Free Assistant. It is your responsibility to obey local traffic laws. Outside of these areas, standard driver assistance systems, including Drive Assist, remain available.

How do I activate the Hands-Free Assistant subscription?
If your eligible vehicle is equipped with the Drive Assist option, you can activate the Hands-Free Assistant subscription in the Connect Store. Simply log in with your Porsche ID credentials and select Activate included services to view all available inclusive services, then click Continue to activation to activate Hands-Free Assistant.
This experience may be discontinued at Porsche’s sole discretion and affected customers will be notified.

When driving on a compatible road with all conditions met, a visual indicator in the instrument cluster confirms Hands-Free Assistant is available. To engage Hands-Free Assistant, simply remove your hands from the steering wheel; the visual indicator in the instrument cluster will change to indicate that Hands-Free Assistant is engaged.
