How to enable Plug & Charge in your Porsche Taycan

Plug & Charge allows your Taycan to automatically communicate with Plug & Charge-enabled charging stations, starting the charging process without requiring external identification like an app or credit card.

How to activate Plug & Charge 

To use Plug & Charge: 

Ensure Plug & Charge is activated in your car. Have an active Porsche Charging Service subscription. The required certificate is generated and installed automatically through the charging service. 

Steps to activate in PCM: 

Tap  Home > Charge > Overview > Three dots icon Select  Activate Plug & Charge

Note: 

If the Plug & Charge option does not appear in PCM, update your car’s software by contacting your local Porsche Center. Plug & Charge is available for: Software version Cluster 33 with the 11-kW On-Board Charger Hardware H14 & VR15 SW 1254 for the 22-kW On-Board Charger 

 Activating the Porsche Charging Service and Plug & Charge certificate

No manual installation is required for the Plug & Charge certificate. Once the Porsche Charging Service and Plug & Charge are activated in PCM, you can begin using the feature. For details on activating the Charging Service, visit the Porsche Charging Service support page. 

Frequently Asked Questions

If you prefer not to use Plug & Charge: 

Authorize the session at the charger (e.g., using the My Porsche app). Plug & Charge won’t interfere with this process. Deactivate Plug & Charge in PCM (Home > Charge > Overview > Three dots icon). Keep in mind that deactivating it may affect charging at home if your equipment is limited to recognized vehicles. 

Yes, using the My Porsche app: 

Open the app and log in. Select your car under Vehicle Details. Tap Functions > Charging > Settings icon (top right). Select Uninstall Plug & Charge certificate. Confirm the prompt to uninstall. 

Alternatively: 

From the home screen, tap the battery icon (state of charge and range). Tap the settings icon and select Uninstall Plug & Charge certificate

Factory resets also delete all user data, including the certificate. If selling your car, cancel the Charging Service to prevent automatic certificate reinstallation. 

Not all charging stations are compatible with Plug & Charge. You'll be able to tell whether a particular charging station supports Plug & Charge in the My Porsche app. Here’s how to find out:

Go to the My Porsche app (login required) Go to MapEnter your destination and view it on the map Tap show chargingstations (at the top of the map) Tap the desired charging stationTap the name and address boxTap the correct plug typeTap the relevant EVSE-ID. A Plug & Charge icon (see the image below) will then show whether Plug & Charge is supported or not.

You can also set a filter on the map view in the My Porsche app to only see chargers that offer Plug & Charge. This list is curated by the Porsche Charging Service.

Open the My Porsche app (login required) Go to MapEnter your destination and view it on the map Tap show charging stations (at the top of the map) Tap the filter icon on the right hand-side and scroll down to the Authentication section where you will be able to select Plug & Charge

If Plug & Charge is activated in the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and is supported by the charging station, but you’re still experiencing issues while trying to start charging, the feature will need to be deactivated in your car’s PCM:

Tap Home > Charge > Overview > Icon with three dotsDeactivate Plug & Charge

Then manually start the charging process.
