How to enable Plug & Charge in your Macan Electric

Plug & Charge allows you to conveniently charge your all-electric Macan without needing external identification, such as an app or card. Your car will automatically communicate with Plug & Charge-enabled stations, starting the charging and billing processes seamlessly.

Steps to enable Plug & Charge 

To use Plug & Charge, follow these two steps: 

Activate Plug & Charge in your car Install the certificate from your active charging contract via the My Porsche app 

1. How to activate Plug & Charge 

Before you start, ensure: 

You're logged into your car with your Porsche ID Your car is online Porsche Connect Services are activated If using Porsche Charging Service, activate it beforehand 

 

You can activate Plug & Charge via the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system or the My Porsche app.

Go to  Charging > Settings in the Overview. Activate Plug & Charge by sliding the toggle to the right. 

On the home screen, tap the display showing the state of charge and rangeTap the settings icon in the top right-hand corner to access Charging Settings. Move the Plug & Charge toggle button to the right to activate it (move left to deactivate). 

If the toggle is greyed out, perform a factory reset. After about 10 minutes, your car should be online again, and you can activate Plug & Charge.

2. How to install a Plug & Charge certificate 

After you have activated Plug & Charge, you can install your Porsche Charging Service contract certificate. Alternatively, you can install a certificate from a Mobility Service Provider (MSP) that offers Plug & Charge-enabled stations. The MSP will create a Plug & Charge certificate available for installation in the My Porsche app. 

Note: Although multiple certificates can exist for one car, only one can be installed at a time. 

 Steps to install a certificate: 

Open the My Porsche app (login required). On the home screen, tap the state of charge and range display. Tap the settings icon in the top right-hand corner to access Charging Settings. Select  Manage certificatesChoose the relevant certificateTap Install

 The installation process may take up to a minute, depending on your car’s reception.

Open the My Porsche app (login required). On the home screen, tap the state of charge and range display. Tap the settings icon in the top right-hand corner to access Charging Settings. Select  Manage certificatesTap Uninstall for the certificate you want to remove. Confirm the uninstallation by tapping the button Uninstall

Not all charging stations are compatible with Plug & Charge. Here’s how to check: 

Open the My Porsche app (login required). Go to Map and enter your location. Tap Show charging stations at the top of the map. Select the charging station and tap the name and address boxTap the correct plug type and check if the Plug & Charge icon appears. 

You can also set a filter on the map to only show Plug & Charge-compatible stations, curated by the Porsche Charging Service. 

If Plug & Charge is activated but you’re still experiencing issues, try  Compatibility Mode to charge at incompatible stations. This mode turns off automatically after vehicle restart. 

How to enable Compatibility Mode: 

In your PCM:  Home > Charging > SettingsTap  Compatibility ModeStart the charging process manually. 
Alternatively, press and hold the release button at the vehicle’s charge port for 3 seconds. 

Privacy Mode or lack of internet connection may prevent the update of a certificate. To disable Privacy Mode, refer to the article on Privacy Mode. Also, ensure your car is online. If it’s parked in an underground garage, it may be offline.
