Charging Timer/Profile

If you’re charging at home or at a public AC charging station, the charging process may not start if a charging timer or profile is activated. To resolve this, follow these steps:

Access your vehicle’s Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system Tap the Charge icon Select Direct Charging

Check that the charging plug is correctly inserted

If the charging plug isn't locked in properly, the session won't start, and a red LED will show in the charging socket. To fix this, do the following:

Remove and reinsert the charging plug into the vehicle Listen for a clipping sound, indicating the securing pin has engaged Follow the plugging sequence shown on the charger if there’s an error

Too many authentication requests

If there are too many authentication requests at a public charging station, the charging process may fail. To resolve this:

Wait a minute Return the cable to the station Authenticate again Replug the cable into the vehicle

Plug & Charge is not working

Not all charging stations are compatible with Plug & Charge. You'll be able to tell whether a particular charging station supports Plug & Charge in the My Porsche app. Here’s how to find out:

Go to My Porsche app (login required) Go to Map and enter your location Tap show charging stations (at the top of the map) Tap the desired charging station Tap the name and address box Tap the correct plug type Tap the relevant EVSE-ID. A Plug & Charge icon will then show whether Plug & Charge is supported or not.

You can also set a filter on the map view in the My Porsche app to only see chargers that offer Plug & Charge. This list is curated by the Porsche Charging Service.

Open the My Porsche app (login required) Go to Map Enter your destination and view it on the map Tap show charging stations (at the top of the map) Tap the filter icon on the right hand-side and scroll down to the Authentication section where you will be able to select Plug & Charge

Activate Compatibility Mode

This only applies to Macan Electric (all model years) and Taycan (model year 2025 - present)

If Plug & Charge is activated in the Porsche Communication Management (PCM), your Porsche Charging Service contract certificate is installed and Plug & Charge is supported by the charging station, and yet you’re still experiencing issues while trying to start charging, turn on the compatibility mode. This mode allows you to charge at incompatible charging stations and turns off automatically on vehicle restart.

Macan Electric:

Make sure the charging cable is not plugged in.In your PCM: Home > Charging > Settings icon Tap Compatibility Mode Start the charging process manually

Alternatively, you can turn on compatibility mode by pressing and holding the release button at the vehicle charge port for 3 seconds.

Note: The Compatibility Mode function remains active for only one parking cycle and automatically deactivates when the vehicle is shifted into Drive or Reverse.

Taycan model year 2025:

Make sure the charging cable is plugged in.In your PCM: Home> Charging>Settings iconTap Compatibility ModeStart the charging process manually

Alternatively, you can turn on compatibility mode by pressing and holding the release button at the vehicle charge port for 3 seconds.

Note: The Compatibility Mode function remains active for only one parking cycle and automatically deactivates when the vehicle is shifted into Drive or Reverse.

Taycan models from 2024 and earlier do not support compatibility mode. If Plug & Charge is activated in the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and is supported by the charging station, but you’re still experiencing issues while trying to start charging, the feature will need to be deactivated in your car’s PCM:

Tap Home > Charge > Overview > Icon with three dotsDeactivate Plug & Charge

Then manually start the charging process.
