How to manage apps from the App Center  

Access the App Center from the home screen of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system in your 911, Taycan, Panamera and Cayenne from model year 2026, as well as in the Macan Electric and Cayenne Electric. You can download and install a range of apps from various categories, including points of interest, audio, video, productivity, games, weather and many more.

Please note that the apps are provided by the app manufacturer; the content of each app may vary by location. The availability of the offered apps can change at any time.

Many of the apps in the App Center have been optimized to prevent driver distraction. While driving, the driver can only open music, navigation and phone apps, and the App Center won’t be accessible on the center display. However, many other apps can be conveniently accessed using Voice Assistant. If your car has an integrated passenger display, all apps can still be used by the passenger while the vehicle is in motion.

To access the App Center, please ensure the following requirements are met:

You have activated Porsche Connect Services. You have logged in to the vehicle with your Porsche ID.You have an active data connection in the vehicle.

How do I install apps?

To install Porsche apps & third-party apps, follow these steps in your PCM:

Tap the App Center tile.Browse for apps by category or select recommendations from Porsche. You can also use the search bar to look for specific applications.Tap on the desired app.Tap More information if you want to know more about the app.Tap Install. The download process will start. You will receive a completion notification.The installed app will appear in the Home menu of your PCM. Audio and video streaming applications will be accessible in your media sources.

You can group apps by dragging them to your desired position on the PCM home screen, or by creating a folder when dragging and dropping one app onto another app.

For full enjoyment, make sure you have checked and granted the necessary app permissions: Settings > Apps > Permission manager.

The Permission manager gives you full control and information about your apps. By tapping on the components, you can withdraw permission.

How do I uninstall apps?

To uninstall apps, please follow these steps in your PCM:

Tap the App Center tile.Search for the app you want to uninstall.Tap the app.Tap Uninstall.Press Confirm.

You can also uninstall apps directly from the PCM by pressing longer on the app tile until a trash can appears, then tapping on it.

Please note, you can only uninstall third-party apps and not native apps that come pre-installed in your car.

How do I update apps?

For the best app performance and functionality, we highly recommend regularly updating your apps. If an update is available, you will receive an alert in the notification center. You can also check for available updates in the PCM:

Tap the App Center.Tap Apps.Tap My Account.You will see a list of your installed apps and which have updates available.Select Update to update your desired app.

You can also allow automatic updates in your PCM:

Tap the App Center.Tap on the settings icon in the upper-right corner.Scroll to the allow automatic updates section.Select the toggle to allow automatic updates for both Porsche and third-party apps.

Frequently Asked Questions

I can’t find the App Center. What can I do?

If the App Center isn’t visible in your PCM, you can use the integrated search function to find it. If the issue persists, restart your PCM or reset it to factory settings. For more information on resetting your PCM, please refer to this article Porsche PCM Factory Reset.

Why did my app download fail?

If your app download fails, please check the following prerequisites:

You have logged in with your Porsche ID You’ve activated Porsche Connect servicesYou have an active data connection in the vehicle You have enoughYour Porsche Connect services aren’t in privacy mode

If you’re still experiencing issues, we recommend trying the following:

Clear storage and cache by accessing Settings > Apps > Select app > Clear storage Restarting your PCM Resetting your PCM to factory settings

Why can’t I use my downloaded app?

If you can’t use your downloaded app, please check the following:

You’re logged in with your Porsche ID.You’ve cleared storage and cache through Settings > Apps > Select app > Clear storage.Your car has a data connection.Porsche Connect services are on and you’ve deactivated privacy mode.You have installed any software updates.

If you’re still experiencing issues, we recommend:

Restarting your PCM.Restarting the app: access Settings in your PCM > App > View all apps > Select relevant app > Force stop.Reinstalling the app.Resetting your PCM to factory settings.

Please note, the App Center also offers third-party apps, which may have their own bugs and could potentially contribute to the issue.

My third-party app isn’t working. How do I report errors?

The App Center offers a diverse selection of third-party apps, which are subject to change. In the event of any issues with these apps, please contact the app manufacturer directly. You can find their contact information in the app description within the App Center.

Can I still use apps when privacy mode is activated / Connect Services are turned off?

Without mobile data, downloading apps and opening the app center isn’t possible. However, you can still use downloaded apps with limited functionality. It's important to note that data that isn’t legally required won’t be processed when privacy mode is on. We recommend deactivating privacy mode / activating Connect Services to fully utilize app features.

Who is responsible for the apps and what about my data privacy?

Porsche takes full responsibility for all Porsche apps. However, any content provided by third-party apps is owned by the respective third party, and Porsche is not responsible for any issues or concerns related to these apps. To ensure the safety and security of our users, the app store provider thoroughly checks the cybersecurity guidelines of third-party apps before making them available in the app store.

Can I display the same app on both screens?

It isn’t currently possible to display an app on both the central and passenger screens. Instead, you’ll receive a pop-up notification asking if you want to use the app on the other display. However, it’s possible to use different apps on both screens simultaneously, providing greater flexibility and customization options.

How do I exit full screen mode?

To exit full-screen mode, simply swipe from the left of the driver’s side screen edge towards the center of that screen. This will minimize the app and return you to the main screen.

Does the secondary user have access to the App Center? 

The secondary user doesn’t have access to the App Center. All downloaded apps are tied to the primary account. Guests can’t use the App Center either.

How much storage space do I have?

Your PCM has a total storage space of 60 GB. To check how much space is available, refer to the local storage information in your PCM settings:

Access the App Center.Tap the settings icon in the upper-right corner.Tap Memory.The storage will be displayed for each category. To see the installed apps, tap the category.

Please note, some apps offer downloadable offline content, which can use up your available memory. It isn’t possible to extend this storage by adding external memory cards.

Can I connect a gaming controller?

Bluetooth game controllers are supported on the following models:

Macan Electric from model year 2026 with the latest software version*Cayenne Electric from model year 2026 with the latest software version*911 from model year 2027**Taycan from model year 2027**Panamera from model year 2027**Cayenne from model year 2027**

Identify your model year.

* One game controller is supported.

** Two game controllers are supported.

You can use a Bluetooth® controller to play games such as Asphalt 9: Legends®, Queen Rock Tour and Fish Of Zen on your car’s central display. Please note that compatibility between games and controllers is defined by the app providers and not by Porsche.

Supported controllers include, for example:

Sony DUALSHOCK® 4 Wireless Controller (PS4 controller)Sony DualSense® Wireless Controller (PS5 controller)Xbox Elite® Wireless Controller Series 2 Xbox® Wireless Controller

Initial setup

To connect a wireless game controller, follow these steps in the PCM:

On the home screen, tap Devices.Tap Connect new device. The system will search for available wireless controllers. Please make sure your controller is in pairing mode (refer to the controller’s user manual for instructions).Tap the button with the controller icon to the right of your controller name.Tap the three dots to the right of your controller name and choose which display the controller should be used on: Central display or Passenger display.

Note: You can only connect game controllers via Bluetooth; USB controllers are not supported.

Using the controller after initial setup

Once your game controller has been paired, you can use it in the future by following these steps:

On the PCM home screen, tap Devices.Select your Bluetooth controller. Make sure that the controller is in reconnect mode (refer to the controller’s user manual for instructions).

If you experience issues using your paired Bluetooth game controller:

On the PCM home screen, tap Devices.Swipe the controller name from right to left to delete it.Pair the controller again by following the steps under ‘Initial set-up’ above.

Can I set parental controls for the apps? 

Currently, the content filter can’t be set universally for all applications. However, some apps may have the option to enable the content filter. We recommend checking the settings of individual apps to see if this option is available.
