All you need to know about Over-the-air Software Updates for your Porsche

Over-the-air (OTA) updates ensure your Porsche continues to provide the high-performance driving experience you expect. It is secure, convenient and downloads automatically – just like on your smartphone. This intelligent service complements traditional maintenance by adding enhanced new features in addition to safety and quality related requirements.

How to Perform an Over-the-air update

Your PCM inside the vehicle will notify you when an update is available. We recommend updating your online software in a place where you can conveniently and safely park your vehicle.

Make sure the following conditions are met:

You have a My Porsche account and your personal Porsche ID is linked to your car.Porsche Connect is activated.The online software update service is enabled in your My Porsche app under Vehicle -> Functions -> Online Software Update.Your Porsche is within the reception area of our mobile service provider during the update.The gear selector is in the ‘P’ position and the electric parking brake is engaged.The windows and doors are closed.The charging plug is not connected. Your car is sufficiently charged.Deactivate Privacy mode / activate Connect services in your car’s Porsche Communication Management System (PCM).

Once the above conditions are met follow these steps to begin the update.

Turn off your car. Before opening the door, the farewell screen will appear with a notification about the available Online Software Update. Please read the information carefully. Press the Install now button.The system will check if there are any additional prerequisites required before performing the update. If they are met, you will be prompted to exit your car, close the windows and then lock it.The update will be installed automatically!After a successful update, you can use your car again. The system will automatically notify you once the installation update is complete.

There is no impact to your personal data volume. Prerequisites may vary depending on the vehicle type.

I closed the update notification. Can I update later?

The installation timing will be automatically postponed if confirmation for installation is not received or if you select Remind me later.

My Porsche and Porsche Connect

You can activate Porsche Connect through the Connect Store.

You are considered the main user if you have a My Porsche account and your personal Porsche ID is linked to your car. Your Porsche ID is a verified personal email address that serves as your username for My Porsche and the Porsche Online Shop.
