How can I control the charging process automatically using the charging timer?

With the Timer function, you can customise the charging process to suit your needs, whether directly from your car or via the My Porsche app. You can choose between time-controlled or location-based charging. The departure timer function is only available when charging with alternating current (AC).

How does time-controlled charging work?

Use the departure timer to reach your desired charge level by your planned departure time. The timer also preconditions your car for a specific time.

Open the My Porsche App on your phone.If you have more than one car, tap on your car’s name and then select the correct one.Scroll down on the home screen and tap the Charging widget.Under Planning, select Departure.Tap Add departure.Enter the date and time by clicking on the pencil icon. You can also optionally select the repeat function for certain days.To precondition your vehicle, select Remote climate control.Tap Save.Tap Send to vehicle to activate the timer.Make sure that you have set your desired target State of Charge (SoC) using the slider on the battery symbol. The timer will use this SoC as target value for your departure time.

Please note that, depending on the model/model year of your car, there may be slight differences in how the buttons in the steps below are described. 

PCM Home > Charge > Departure > Add new departure.Enter the departure date and time (you can optionally set timers to repeat on specific days). Make sure that you have set your desired target State of Charge (SoC) using the slider on the battery symbol. The timer will use this SoC as a target value for your departure time. If you’d like to precondition your car, activate Precool/heat. You can adjust the air conditioning settings separately in the Precool/h. menu. Return to the Timer menu and activate the desired timer. 

Once activated, the car will ensure that the desired state of charge is reached by the departure time and the charging process will stop. 

Tip: to delete a departure timer, swipe from right to left on the corresponding timer.

How does location-based charging work?

Please note that, depending on the model/model year of your car, there may be slight differences in how the buttons in the steps below are described. 

PCM Home > Charge > Departure > Add departure.Tap Advanced settings / Additional settings.Tap Save current location.Return to the Timer menu and activate the desired timer.

If the car is within 820 feet of the address and is plugged in, the charging process starts automatically.

Open the My Porsche App on your phone. If you have more than one car, tap on your car’s name and then select the correct one.Scroll down on the home screen and tap the Charging widget. Tap Departure. Tap Add departure. Enter a date and time by clicking on the pencil icon. Activate your current location using the slider. If you want to precondition your vehicle, select Remote climate control. You can configure the air conditioning settings separately via the Functions menu under Precool/heat. Tap Save. Tap on Send to vehicle to activate the departure timer. 

Please note:

If you have compatible smart charging/energy management hardware, you can also use Optimized Charging. In this case, ensure that Plug & Charge is enabled: Tap Charging in your PCM and next tap Overview and Settings (gear icon at bottom right). Then enable Plug & Charge.

How can I override the departure timer for immediate charging?

At some public charging stations, the charging process can’t be started if a departure timer is activated. In this case, the direct charge function can be activated via the PCM or the My Porsche app. The high-voltage battery will then be charged to 100%, regardless of the timer.

Tap on Charge, then Overview. Tap Direct charging to start charging immediately.

My Porsche app

Open the My Porsche app on your phone.If you have more than one car, tap on your car’s name and then select the correct one.Scroll down on the home screen and tap the Charging widget.Move the slider for Direct charging to On.
