How do I check for software updates for my Porsche Wallbox?

You can view the current software status and manage the settings for software updates for your Porsche Wallbox via the My Porsche app.

Please follow these steps:

To help ensure the most efficient software update process, please make sure your Porsche Wallbox is online (via mobile data – data volume is included – wi-fi or ethernet). Ensuring that your Porsche Wallbox is online and synced with the My Porsche app means that its full set of functions is enabled. Open the My Porsche app on your phone. Scroll down on the home screen and tap the Charging widget. Go to Charging equipment and scroll down the list to find your respective wallbox. Once you tap Equipment settings you’ll see information about the installed software version as well as the availability of software updates.

The function ‘automatic software update’ displayed below is enabled by default. When this feature is enabled, software updates will be downloaded and installed automatically. If the function is turned off, the installed software version will be displayed. By clicking on it, software updates may be triggered manually.

You can check if there’s a new software update available for the Porsche Mobile Charger Connect and the Porsche Home Energy Manager by comparing your software version with the latest version detailed in the section below via the equipment settings section of the My Porsche app (Charging widget on the home screen > Charging equipment > Select your hardware > Equipment settings).

The software update 0290 is intended to improve the functionality of your Porsche Home Energy Manager.

The Porsche Home Energy Manager is no longer available as a new part. Spare parts can still be ordered from your Porsche Centre.

How do I install software updates for my Porsche charging hardware?

To keep your Porsche charging hardware up to date, select your Porsche charging equipment below and follow the instructions in the corresponding software update installation guide.

Porsche Wallbox software update installation guide

1. Connect to the Wallbox Hotspot

Connect your device (recommended: PC/laptop) via Wi-Fi to the charger’s hotspot using the Wallbox hotspot. The name of the Wi-Fi hotspot is “PWBX-…” followed by the serial number. If the Wallbox’s Wi-Fi hotspot does not appear in the list of available networks, restart the Wallbox by pressing the power button for at least 10 seconds, or by switching the corresponding fuse off and on. Enter the Wi-Fi Password provided in the access data letter.

2. Open the Web Application via your Browser

Enter the IP address 10.0.2.1 in the search bar of your Internet browser – it is recommended to use the Google Chrome browser. Display issues may occur with the security warning when using Internet Explorer. A security warning shows up – ignore it and click continue (connect to 10.0.2.1).

3. Open Web Application

Log in to the web application as a “Service user”. The URL in the address bar depends on the connection type: Direct hotspot: 10.0.2.1 / WiFi: local wallbox URL (from your access data letter or in the router overview) / Ethernet: 10.0.1.30.

4. Software Update menu

In the left column, select the menu item Software update.

5. Select file and start installation

Select Local update and locate the downloaded software file from your local directory.

6. Install software update

Wait for the software update to upload and install. After installation, the wallbox restarts automatically.

Porsche Mobile Charger Connect software update installation guide

1. Open Web Application

Log into the web application as the "Home user" type.

2. Select Maintenance menu

Under Settings, open the Service menu.

3. Check version and upload file

A) Check the installed software version on your charging hardware.

B) Open “Upload update file”, then select and install the higher version.

4. Select file and start installation

A) Use Select File to select the downloaded software file from your local directory.

B) Start the update via Start software update.

5. Install software update

Wait for the software update to fully install. Refresh the page after 5 minutes.

You can check if there’s a service measure or recall campaign for your Porsche charging hardware at the Porsche website by selecting your hardware model and entering the serial number of your device. If you need additional information, please contact your Porsche Centre.
