Wireless charging has already made powering up your smartphone incredibly simple by allowing you to just place it in a charging cradle so the energy flows. But Porsche is now bringing this user-friendly technology to its electric cars as well. The Cayenne Electric will lead the way as the first Porsche model series to support Porsche Wireless Charging.

How does Porsche Wireless Charging work?
Charging your Porsche at home has never been easier. Porsche Wireless Charging is an inductive charging system that combines elegant design with cutting-edge technology in order to make the process simple, smart and seamless.
You might already be familiar with inductive charging from everyday devices like smartphones or electric toothbrushes. It works by transferring energy through the air using a magnetic field, so no cables are needed. For your Porsche, it’s just as easy. All you do is drive over the Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad in your home garage or carport, for instance – assisted parking via integration into Park Assist helps ensure precise alignment – and the energy transfer begins automatically via inductive coupling. Energy flows wirelessly from the Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad to the Porsche Wireless Charging Vehicle Pad inside the car through an electromagnetic field.
The system offers a power output of up to 11 kW (AC), intelligent safety features and seamless connectivity via LTE or Wi-Fi throughout the entire process. It’s integrated into the My Porsche app, so that charging processes can be tracked, and several cars can be authenticated. And thanks to its advanced inductive technology, up to 90% of the energy from the power grid is efficiently transferred to your car’s battery to ensure minimal energy loss and maximum efficiency.
What’s required to use Porsche Wireless Charging?
To use Porsche Wireless Charging, both your car and your home need to be equipped with specific components. These are divided into three essential elements – some must be selected during the car ordering process, while others will be available later.

Where can I buy Porsche Wireless Charging?
The Cayenne Electric will be the first Porsche model series that can be charged via Porsche Wireless Charging. When ordering your Cayenne Electric, please make sure to include the Porsche Wireless Charging Preparation in your configuration.
All other necessary components for Porsche Wireless Charging will be available from the second half of 2026 at your Porsche Centre, either as part of a new car configuration or as a retrofit (provided that your car has been initially configured with the Porsche Wireless Charging Preparation option).
The Wireless Charging Ground Pad infrastructure for your home will also be available online via the Porsche Shop.
Which safety mechanisms does Porsche Wireless Charging come with?
To ensure a safe charging process for you and your surroundings, the system features Living Object Protection and Foreign (Metal) Object Detection. If a living object – such as a person or pet – is detected near the charging area, the process stops immediately and automatically resumes once the area is clear. Similarly, if a foreign metal object is detected, charging will not begin, preventing any potential safety risks.
The Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad is also suitable for outdoor use – all live components are protected from rain and snow. Even driving over the Ground Pad does not cause any significant damage. Electromagnetic radiation is limited to the underbody of the car during charging.
In addition, the Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad is CE and UL certified – i.e., it meets EU and US-wide requirements for safety and environmental protection.
