How does Porsche Wireless Charging work?
Charging your Porsche at home has never been easier. Porsche Wireless Charging is an inductive charging system that combines elegant design with cutting-edge technology in order to make the process simple, smart and seamless.
You might already be familiar with inductive charging from everyday devices like smartphones or electric toothbrushes. It works by transferring energy through the air using a magnetic field, so no cables are needed. For your Porsche, it’s just as easy. All you do is drive over the Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad in your home garage or carport, for instance – assisted parking via integration into Park Assist helps ensure precise alignment – and the energy transfer begins automatically via inductive coupling. Energy flows wirelessly from the Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad to the Porsche Wireless Charging Vehicle Pad inside the car through an electromagnetic field.
The system delivers up to 11 kW (AC) of charging power, combines intelligent safety features with seamless connectivity via LTE¹ or Wi‑Fi, and is fully integrated into the My Porsche app. This allows you to monitor charging sessions conveniently and authenticate multiple cars for use with the same Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad. And thanks to its advanced inductive technology, up to 90% of the energy from the power grid is efficiently transferred to your car’s battery to ensure minimal energy loss and maximum efficiency.

What’s required to use Porsche Wireless Charging?
To use Porsche Wireless Charging, both your car and your home need to be equipped with specific components.
Where can I buy Porsche Wireless Charging?
The necessary components for Porsche Wireless Charging are available at your Porsche Centre, either as part of a new car configuration or as a retrofit.
The Wireless Charging Ground Pad infrastructure for your home will also be available online via the Porsche Shop.
Our recommended provider for Home Installation Services, Andersen EV, can support with a home survey and installation of the Porsche Wallbox or Porsche Wireless Charging.
Which safety mechanisms does Porsche Wireless Charging come with?
To ensure a safe charging process for you and your surroundings, Porsche Wireless Charging is equipped with motion detection and Foreign Object Detection for metallic objects. Charging is automatically interrupted if movement is detected between the Porsche Wireless Charging Vehicle Pad and the Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad, or if a metallic object is placed on the Ground Pad and begins to heat up. Charging automatically resumes once the area is clear, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
The Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad is also suitable for outdoor use – all components are protected from rain and snow. Even driving over the Ground Pad does not cause any significant damage. Electromagnetic radiation is limited to the underbody of the car during charging.
Which connectivity features does Porsche Wireless Charging offer?
The Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad is connected to the internet via LTE¹ or Wi-Fi. This enables a range of digital features and services:

Porsche Wireless Charging is seamlessly integrated into the My Porsche app, allowing you to conveniently manage and monitor your charging experience at home.
With the My Porsche app, you can, for example:
View the live status of your current charging process
Adjust charging equipment settings
Track your charging history and export charging data (e.g. for billing purposes)
Here you will find all your home charging sessions in chronological order with details of dates and total amount of the charging process. Tap on a transaction to access all relevant details of the charging transaction.
Adjust the charging power of the Ground Pad if required
Set up a Wi-Fi connection (e.g. if LTE reception is limited, such as in underground garages)
How does the initial pairing of your Porsche with the Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad work?
Before using Porsche Wireless Charging for the first time, your Porsche and the Ground Pad need to be paired once. During this initial setup (all credentials and access information required can be found in the onboarding guide provided with the charging hardware), the car stores the Ground Pad’s location and will automatically recognise it in the future.

What happens if I accidentally drive over the Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad with my tyres?
The Ground Pad is designed to withstand vehicles driving over it without any issues. It is built to handle high vehicle weights and is robust enough for everyday use.
However, as with any surface, scratches may occur.
Can individual parts of the Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad be replaced?
Yes, certain parts of the Ground Pad can be replaced if required. Replacement parts are available, especially for components that are exposed to higher levels of wear.
This includes the maintenance cover, connection box, protection board, fan and side panels.
Why are the green guidance lines not displayed when parking over the Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad?
The green guidance lines support you when positioning your car and are based on the car’s positioning and geo data.
If you approach the Ground Pad quickly, the Wi‑Fi connection may take a moment to establish, so the lines may appear slightly delayed or not immediately.
In addition, the guidance lines will not be displayed if they have been deactivated in the PCM settings. Please check the corresponding display settings in your car if the guidance lines do not appear.
Can my Porsche automatically park precisely over the Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad?
At present, the optional “Trained Parking” function available for the Cayenne Electric does not support automatic parking in combination with wireless charging.
What does the indicator light on the Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad mean?
The indicator light on the Porsche Wireless Charging Ground Pad provides you with visual feedback on the current state of the charging system, such as whether the system is ready, charging, or if an issue has occurred. This helps you quickly understand the charging status at a glance, directly at the Ground Pad.

Does Porsche Wireless Charging require maintenance?
Porsche Wireless Charging generally requires very little maintenance.
However, if the Ground Pad is installed outdoors, dust or leaves may occasionally accumulate in the cooling area. This can be easily accessed via the service flap for cleaning.
As a general guideline, we recommend a visual check and light cleaning (for example with a vacuum cleaner) once a year.
