Prerequisites for Fast Charging

Fast charging performance depends on several factors — the output of the fast-charging station, the state of charge (SoC) of the vehicle battery, and the battery temperature.

As a general rule: the fuller the battery, the slower the charging process. Charging power decreases significantly once the battery reaches around 80% SoC. This is because a vehicle battery consists of many interconnected battery cells that absorb the incoming power.

The charging process can be compared to parking: when there are many free spaces, parking is easy. But once 80% of the spaces are taken, finding an available spot takes longer.

The Macan charges with exceptional efficiency:

Up to 270 kW at around 35% SoCOver 200 kW up to 55% SoC

This is enough to gain approximately 250 km of range in just 10 minutes.

Tip: To achieve maximum charging performance and minimise charging time, start charging when the SoC drops to around 10%. The Macan charges especially quickly between 10% and 55% SoC.

Preconditioning with Charging Planner

The Charging Planner ensures optimal charging conditions by preconditioning the battery.

Important: Always use your Macan’s navigation system for route planning. Only then can the Charging Planner intelligently schedule charging stops and bring the battery to the ideal temperature in time.

Thanks to the heat pump, the battery is heated in cold conditions and cooled in hot weather — increasing both charging performance and battery longevity, even in extreme temperatures.

No worries: even without preconditioning — such as during spontaneous stops — your Macan can still charge at up to 270 kW. This is due to its particularly robust high-voltage battery, which supports a broader fast-charging window across various temperature and SoC levels compared to other electric vehicles.

Tip: The optimal temperature range for fast charging is indicated by a bracket in the battery temperature display on the instrument cluster.

*Macan charging time for direct current (DC) with maximum charging output from 10% SoC to up to 80% SoC under optimal conditions (CCS fast charging station with > 270 kW, > 850 V, battery temperature 25°C and initial SoC 9%).

Tips for Maximum Charging Performance

Use the navigation system. Only with active route guidance can the Charging Planner precondition the battery effectively.Drive the vehicle down to approx. 10% SoC before charging. The Macan charges fastest between 10% and 55% SoC.Plan fast-charging stops on longer trips. This allows you to make full use of the Macan’s peak charging capacity of up to 270 kW.
