Why is my vehicle not charging at the desired charging power

The following guidelines can help you ensure a smooth charging process for your Porsche.

Table of Content

  1. Temperature of your car battery
  2. Battery Charge Care Mode
  3. Local charger settings
  4. Other topics about the Charging Process

Temperature of your car battery

If the charging power is lower than expected, it might be due to the car's battery temperature. If it’s very cold outside and the battery isn’t fully conditioned, the charging speed might be unexpectedly low. Performance may also not reach the desired level if the battery temperature is very high due to intensive driving or the ambient temperature.

At low temperatures, the charging performance of your high-voltage battery can be restricted. However, some Porsche models can automatically precondition their batteries for rapid charging. The Porsche Charging Planner uses the route planning function via the PCM or Apple Maps to perform thermal preconditioning, which can heat or cool the battery to the ideal temperature before reaching a charging station.

Battery Charge Care Mode

If you have enabled Battery Charge Care Mode in your PCM, your car's battery management system prioritises battery health, which may lead to fast charging taking longer.

Local charger settings

Local settings made at the charger can also lead to a reduction in charging performance.
