Charging Capacity

EV charging comparison: Porsche electric car charging at home AC 11 kW, public DC 400V 135 kW, and ultra-fast DC 800V 270 kW charging stations. Electric vehicle fast charging efficiency for urban and highway use.

At AC charging points, the Macan charges with up to 11 kW, which corresponds to the standard for the domestic power grid. This means it charges from a State of Charge (SoC) of 0% to 100% in around 10 hours.

Your Macan can achieve the following charging times and power levels at public fast-charging stations:

800V infrastructure: up to 270 kW - 10% to 80% SoC in approx. 21 minutes400V infrastructure: up to 135 kW - 10% to 80% SoC in approx. 33 minutes

Prerequisites for Fast Charging

The fast charging performance depends on several factors - the power of the fast charging station, the state of charge (SoC) of the vehicle battery and the battery temperature.

As a general rule: the fuller the battery, the slower the charging process. The charging performance decreases significantly as soon as the battery has reached a state of charge of around 80%. This is due to the fact that a vehicle battery consists of many interconnected battery cells that absorb the energy supplied.

The charging process can be compared to parking: If there are plenty of free spaces, parking is easy. However, if 80% of the spaces are occupied, it takes longer to find a free space.

The Macan charges very efficiently:

Up to 270 kW with an SoC of approx. 35%More than 200 kW up to an SoC of 55%

This is enough to gain a range of around 250 kilometres in just 10 minutes.

Tip: To achieve maximum charging performance and minimise charging time, start charging when the state of charge (SoC) drops to around 10%. The Macan charges particularly quickly between 10% and 55% SoC.

Preconditioning with the Charging Planner

The Charging Planner ensures optimum charging conditions by preconditioning the battery.

Important: Use the navigation system of your Macan for route planning. This is the only way the Charging Planner can intelligently plan charging stops and bring the battery to the optimum temperature in good time.

Thanks to the heat pump, the battery is heated when it is cold and cooled when it is hot. This increases the charging performance and the service life of your battery, even at extreme temperatures. At the same time, the heat pump enables particularly energy-efficient temperature control, as existing waste heat is utilised and the energy requirement for heating and cooling is reduced.

Don't worry: even without preconditioning, for example during spontaneous stops, your Macan can charge with up to 270 kW. This is due to its particularly robust high-voltage battery.

Tip: The optimum temperature range for fast charging is indicated by a bracket in the battery temperature display in the instrument cluster.

*Charging time of the Macan for direct current (DC) with maximum charging power of 10 % SoC up to 80% SoC under optimum conditions (CCS fast charging station with > 270 kW, > 850 V, battery temperature 25 °C and initial SoC of 9%).

Tips for Maximum Charging Performance

Use the navigation system. The charge planner can only precondition the battery effectively with active route guidanceDrive the vehicle down to approx. 10% SoC before charging. The Macan charges fastest between 10% and 55% SoCPlan fast charging stops for longer journeys. This allows you to fully utilise the Macan's peak charging power of up to 270 kW
