Driver Assistance Systems – Standard Equipment

Your Macan comes equipped with a wide range of standard driver assistance systems. Many of these functions operate discreetly in the background and dynamically adapt to your driving behaviour, while others can be actively controlled. They enhance comfort and support during every drive – with you always remaining in full control.

To access driver assistance settings in the PCM: Vehicle > Assistance Systems

Note: All systems operate within their technical limits and require constant supervision by the driver.

Speed Warning

Your Macan detects speed limits using camera and navigation data. When a limit is exceeded, the system issues visual and/or acoustic alerts.

Per EU regulation, speed warning is automatically activated at each start-up. Manual deactivation or adjustment is possible in the PCM.

Path: PCM > Vehicle > Assistance Systems > Speed Warning

Customisable in PCM:

Type of alert: visual, acoustic, or both Notification when speed limit changes Tolerance value (e.g. +5 mph over the limit)

Quick Access Tip:

Use the Joker Button on the  steering wheel  to quickly deactivate this function until the next vehicle start.

Traffic Sign Recognition

Your Macan detects speed limits, no-overtaking signs, and relevant supplementary signs such as "when wet" or temporary restrictions in real time. Recognised signs are displayed in the instrument cluster.

If a sign cannot be reliably detected (e.g. in darkness or heavy rain), the system uses stored navigation data as a fallback.

Customisable:

Display style in the instrument clusterAcoustic alerts for speedingDisplay duration for temporary restrictionsConsideration of supplementary signs (e.g. "when wet")

Front and Rear Park Assist incl. Reversing Camera

ParkAssist detects obstacles in the front and rear of the vehicle. The high-resolution reversing camera displays the surroundings on the central display, including dynamic guidance lines.

The camera view activates automatically when reverse gear is engaged or when approaching obstacles at low speeds (below approx. 9 mph).

Customisable in PCM (Vehicle > Assistance Systems):

Warning tone volume and frequencyWarning distancesDisplay of guidance lines and obstacle markersCamera view selection (front, rear, side, top view)Preferred default view

Lane Change Assist

This system detects vehicles in your blind spot or approaching quickly from behind.

LED warning in the side mirror operates in two stages:

Information Level:

If the indicator is not on, the LED remains steadily lit when a vehicle is in the critical zone.

Warning Level:

If the indicator is on, the LED flashes brightly before turning solid again to warn of a potential danger during a lane change.

Active from approx. 6 mph to 155 mph.

Customisable in PCM (Vehicle > Assistance Systems):

Brightness of LED indicatorAcoustic warning when indicator is usedAlert strategy (visual only or visual + acoustic)

Rear Cross Traffic Alert

When reversing out of a parking space, the rear radar detects approaching cross-traffic and warns you.

Alerts include:

Visual warning in the PCMAcoustic signalIf necessary, a brief automatic braking intervention to prevent a collision

Customisable in PCM (Vehicle > Assistance Systems):

Warning tone volumeRadar sensitivityAlert strategy (warning only / warning + brake intervention)Duration and style of display

Exit Warning

Exit Warning uses an LED in the door handle recess to alert you when a vehicle is approaching from behind – e.g., in city traffic or when parked on the roadside.

This helps avoid dangerous door-opening situations.

Operates automatically in the background – no manual settings required.

Cruise Control

Cruise control automatically maintains a desired speed between approx. 12 mph and 130 mph, ideal for relaxed driving on longer trips.

Controlled via the Driver Assistance Lever on the steering wheel:

Set and adjust speed in 1 or 6 mph incrementsPause and resume cruise control

Customisable via the Driver Assistance Lever:

Set/adjust target speedPause via brakingResume last saved speed

Lane Keeping Assist incl. Emergency Assist

The Lane Keeping Assist system uses a camera to detect lane markings and actively steers the vehicle back if unintentional drifting occurs. Active between approx. 40 mph and 155 mph.

If the driver does not respond to repeated warnings, the Emergency Assist activates:

The Macan decelerates to a controlled stop within the laneHazard lights activateAn automatic emergency call (eCall) is triggered

Customisable in PCM (Vehicle > Assistance Systems):

Steering intervention intensityWarning timingActivation of Emergency AssistType of lane departure warning (visual/acoustic)

Warning & Brake Assist

This system detects potential collisions with vehicles, pedestrians, or cyclists. It issues early warnings visually, acoustically, and possibly with a light brake pulse.

If no driver response occurs, the system applies the brakes to avoid or mitigate a collision.

Additional features:

Distance Warning: Warns when following too closelyIntersection Assist: Detects crossing traffic, pedestrians, and cyclistsEvasive Maneuver Assist: Supports emergency swervingTurn Assist: Detects oncoming traffic when turning left

Customisable:

Sensitivity of distance warningsActivation levels for brake supportIntensity of visual and acoustic alertsActivation of individual sub-functions

Emergency Call Systems: eCall and bCall

eCall (Emergency Call)

Automatically triggered during a serious accident. Connects to the nearest emergency call center and transmits key data such as location, direction of travel, and vehicle type.

bCall (Breakdown Call)

Can be triggered manually via the Porsche Assistance button in the roof module. Connects directly to Porsche Assistance (e.g. in case of breakdown or technical issues).

Availability:

Both services are available 24/7 across Europe.

Operate automatically – no settings required.

Driver Attention Monitoring

Monitors your steering and control behavior via a camera. If signs of fatigue or distraction are detected, the system issues a visual and acoustic warning. Driver Attention Monitoring continuously evaluates your steering inputs and control patterns. If the system detects signs of fatigue or distraction—such as erratic steering or delayed reaction times—a warning appears in the display, accompanied by an audible alert.

This helps you identify potentially critical situations at an early stage.

Operates automatically in the background – no individual settings required.
