How can I use Android Auto™ in my Porsche?

With Android Auto™ , some of the functions and apps of an Android™ smartphone are made available directly on your Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system.

This article applies to:

Taycan model years 2020- present

Cayenne model years 2022- present

911 (992) model years 2022- present

Panamera model years 2022- present

Macan Electric model years 2024- present

What do I need to do to use Android Auto with my Porsche?

To get started with Android Auto, ensure your smartphone meets the following requirements: 

Latest Software: Your phone should run at least Android 8 with the latest Android Auto version installed. From Android 10 onward, Android Auto is integrated directly into the operating system. Mobile Data: Ensure your mobile data is active (additional charges may apply, especially when used abroad). Permissions: Google Assistant and Android Auto must be enabled in your phone’s settings. Connection Method: Depending on your vehicle and phone, you can connect either wirelessly or via USB. 

How can I set up Android Auto in a Porsche?

You can set-up Android Auto either wirelessly or wired using a USB cable.

Connect your phone to the USB port using an undamaged original manufacturer USB cableConfirm the notification on the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) screen to indicate that you want to start using Android Auto  Android Auto will launch and available apps will be displayed on the PCM

To enable a wireless connection, please make sure you have: 

Activated Wireless Android Auto on your phone Activated the Bluetooth and WiFi functions on your phone Activated the Bluetooth and WiFi functions of your vehicle 

In your vehicle’s Porsche Communication Management (PCM):

Tap the Devices tile Tap Connect new devicesThen, either tap Connect Android Auto to add your phone or use the Android Auto logo icon in the Connect new devices row as a short cut where you will need to tap Connect Android Auto Your vehicle will start searching for devices. Your phone will appear on the screen as soon as your Porsche finds it Tap your phone name to connect Agree to start Android Auto 

To exit wireless Android Auto: 

On your vehicle’s PCM press Home > Devices > Tap the Android Auto icon of the connected smartphone. 

Wireless Android Auto will now be ended.

What should I consider when using Android Auto?

Navigation applications such as Google Maps™ via Android Auto don’t work in parallel with PCM navigation When using Android Auto, active Bluetooth connections (e.g. for telephony, media playback or messaging) are automatically disconnected If Android Auto is active, you can’t use or connect another phone. To connect another phone, you must first disconnect the Android Auto connection within the PCM Device Manager

Using Google Assistant with Android Auto

To operate Google Assistant:

Ensure Google Assistant is enabled on your phone. The vehicle’s ignition and PCM must be on. You should not be on an active call, and both parking assistant and PCM voice control must be off.

To start Google Assistant:

Press and hold the Voice Control button on the steering wheel. Speak your command.

To end Google Assistant, press the Voice Control button again.
